The Summerwood Stingrays have the BEST coaches in the league

Head Coach Craig "Sikk"

Coach Craig Sikkema comes to us with over 30 years of experience coaching and leading children of various ages. This year is his second with the Stingrays. He and his wonderful wife, Paige, revolve their lives around the pool deck and have great passion for water sports. Our coach is currently the head swimming/diving/water polo coach at Westside high School in Magnet HISD and has been for the past ten years. He has been voted district swim coach of the year 5 out of the 10 years he has been coaching at Westside. The past 3 years he has been named the girls swim coach of the year. Before Westside, he coached football, swimming, and track at a magnet middle school in HISD, and before that was at Cy Fair ISD. He raised his own two children in and around the pool and has been involved in youth sports practically his entire life, coaching football, baseball, track, swimming and water polo at the high school level for 25 years. He has also been a head coach in the NWAL program for several teams over the years.

Coach Craig graduated from the University of Houston where he studied Kinesiology and Education.

New challenges and experiences keep coaching interesting for Coach Craig, and he loves working with young athletes. Welcome to the Stingrays, Coach Craig! We are so pleased to have enthusiastic and experienced leadership for our team this season.

Assistant Coach Jacob Shaye

The Summerwood Stingrays Swim Team is pleased to welcome Jacob Shaye, a 5 year veteran Stingray, to our coaching staff this season. Jacob has been a lifeguard for the past 2 summers at our Summerwood pools. He earned the Eagle Scout award last year and considers it his greatest accomplishment to date. This May, Jacob will graduate from Summer Creek High School and at summer's end will attend University of Texas Tyler to study pharmeceutical science or something else in the medical field. We feel fortunate to have such a responsible and trustworthy young man on our coaching staff and know he will lead our swimmers to success!

Assistant Coach Nash Voyles

Nash swam with the Stingrays for a decade and with his high school swim team for three years. He has been accepted to Sam Houston State University and will be pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
